Religious Education Committee The primary purpose of the Religious Education Committee is to oversee the Christian Education of the Church, the Pilgrim Fellowship, the selection of Church School Teachers, the selection of the Pilgrim Fellowship Advisor, and the nomination of the Church School Superintendent. Our Sunday School is in session from September through June, during the morning worship service. Classrooms are available from nursery age through high school, and we provide a Christian education using a selected UCC approved curriculum. The children also participate in "Ingathering Sunday," the Christmas Pageant, the Palm Sunday Parade, the Easter Flowering-of-the-Cross service, and the Children's' Sunday service. Each week, for the first 20 minutes before Sunday School, half of the children participate in a special service held in the chapel. This service provides an opportunity for youth to learn about the various parts of a worship service and to directly participate by reading scripture, leading music, and collecting the offering. The other half of the children join the congregation and the minister for the beginning of the worship service in the sanctuary. The worship service in the sanctuary usually includes a children's sermon by the minister. The two groups take turns between attending the chapel and the sanctuary services. A thorough Confirmation program pairs the confirmands with adult mentors to aid them in making important decisions regarding their faith.
