The Diaconate assists the Minister in the work of the Church and the care of the Parish. Deacons strive to be especially mindful of others and of those in need of spiritual guidance and encouragement. They also visit and help, as needed, the people of the Church and others who are in want, are troubled, sick, shut-in, or faced with emergencies.

Next to the Minister, the Diaconate is responsible for conducting the services and providing for the Sacraments and assisting in their administration. Deacons are both confrontive and supportive of the Minister. The Deacons fill the pulpit during ministerial absences. They confer with candidates for church membership. They review and recommend adjustments to the membership lists. The Diaconate and the Trustees jointly appoint the Nominating and Pulpit Committee. Uptto 12 Deacons can be Voting Members.
